The 2005 "Amber" Puppies are Here!
Member of: Basenji Club of Southeastern Wisconsin I became interested in Basenjis after I found out that my first dog, Ginger Snaps, was a Basenji mix. Their appearance, low shedding, and no barking were the traits that first attracted me. In 1993 I acquired my first Basenji, Gypsy. Shortly thereafter I met other people who owned and bred Basenjis. These people helped to begin my education in the breed and introduced me to dog shows and lure coursing. My next dog was purchased after seeing a young black and white dog while attending the Cincinnati Basenji Specialty. That dog was bred by Wanda Pooley of AdventureLand Basenjis. When Wanda's next litter was ready to go home, Maverick came to live here. A couple of years later, I was in a discussion with Brenda Cassell of Signet Basenjis and we agreed that her "keeper" could come and live with me. Brenna is such a sweet girl and is so easy to live with, I'm thrilled that she was allowed to come North. It was a long time before I decided to breed my first litter. I spent a lot of time going to dog shows, field trials, and educating myself about the breed - including pedigrees, health, and general animal husbandry. Through Gypsy I learned a lot about early puppy socialization and the dangers of withholding that socialization as well as sending a dog home too early. In 2000 I co-bred my first litter, the "Blacque" litter. I used the Blacque theme because it was used in one of the dogs' behind the litter, Ch. Akuaba In Blacque By Candu, bred by Jane Williams of Candu Basenjis. Blacquie is no longer available at stud through an unfortunate set of circumstances, however, one of his sons, Trucker, was available. It was Blacquie's pedigree and appearance that first attracted me to that line, therefore, I wanted to recall him in the litter, thus the use of the Blacque in the theme. In 2002 I bred a litter, which I called the "Gold" litter. This entire litter OFA'd Excellent! I originally kept a black male, whom I call Blade AKA Keltwyn Black Irish Gold, GRC. Blade has since gone on to live with his half sister, Siena, in Washington. For 2005 Blade's sister, Misty, may be bred for a litter we're planning. In 2003 Brenna's co-owner Brenda Cassell leased Brenna for her "Party" litter. The tri female in that litter is now a champion, Ch. Signet After Hours Party, "Dawn". Dawn's brother Signet Black Ty Party, "Ty" is still being shown and has nine points to date. In 2004 Brenna whelped her last litter, my "Jazz" litter. With only two puppies from which to choose there just wasn't one I wanted to keep this time, so they are both happily in pet homes. Where can you go on this site? Here:
